Monday 14 November was World Diabetes Day.

Almost 1.5 million Australians have been diagnosed with diabetes and all Australians with diabetes are at risk of developing diabetic retinopathy.

Specsavers is proud to unite with Diabetes Australia in the fight against preventable diabetes-related blindness through KeepSight, Australia’s diabetes eye screening reminder program.

Specsavers optometrists have already registered more than 500,000 appointments with the program, meaning that more than 270,000 people with diabetes are registered to receive reminders when their diabetes eye checks are due.

Specsavers is committed to uniting and partnering with foundations such as KeepSight to ensure a coordinated approach to early detection and intervention.

If you want to have a real impact and change people’s lives, starting your Optometry career with Specsavers is the first step.

Graduates taking up ‘Go With A Friend’ incentive to relocate to regional NSW

Disclaimer: The views & opinions expressed in this post are those of the guest author and do not necessarily reflect the opinions & views of UNSW OptomSoc.

Author: Specsavers

After supporting each other through university, Kylie Choy and her friend decided to start their career together by taking advantage of Specsavers ‘Go With A Friend’ incentive. Relocating to a regional location by herself was daunting, so having a friend join in the same area made her more comfortable. Signing onto the Specsavers Graduate Program ensured clinical support throughout her first 2 years of optometry, but having someone to live and work with that to share the same experiences has made transition easier. To hear more of Kylie’s story, or find out more about our Go With A Friend and other incentives, reach out to your Graduate Recruitment Consultant.
